Kentucky Fried Chicken is a global pioneer in edible cutlery introducing a takeaway cup in 2015 and more recently edible ‘Rice Bowlz’ made of tortilla that you can snack on after you finish dinner. The bowls, sold in India, are a big hit.
KFC introduced “Scoff-ee cups” in the UK. They are baked as a wafer-like cookie with a sugar paper wrapping and lined with a heat-resistant white chocolate coating. Lavazza introduced “cookie cup” made of baked cookie dough designed to hold espresso in 2003 but discontinued the experiment.
Bakey’s Food in Hyderabad, India makes a selection of edible forks, cups, plates, and salad bowls from grains and millet. They have a six-month shelf life and sell for $4.20 for a box of 100 spoons.
