On March 3, 2016 the Barista Guild of America is launching a new event for the coffee community. Intended to create opportunities for deeper discussions about coffee, the inaugural event taking place in Los Angeles features thought-leaders, including Charles Babinski, current U.S. Barista Champion and co-founder of G&B Coffee and Go Get ‘Em Tiger; Katie Carguilo, 2011 U.S. Barista Champion and west coast quality control for Counter Culture Coffee; and Sarah Bennett, freelance food and beverage journalist.
A number of satellite events will be held around the United States, including Atlanta, Ga.; Austin, Texas; New York City; Providence, Rhode Island; and Washington D.C. Each talk from the main event will be recorded and broadcast at our event. In Providence, for example, Christopher H. Hendon, a computational and experimental chemist with special interests in energy materials, applied physics and coffee extraction will be speaking. Though the main speaker in Washington D.C. has not yet been confirmed, some of the panelists have been and they include Kyle Ramage of Mahlkonig USA and Chris Van Orden of Port City Brewing Company.
