A recent article in Scientific Reports adds new evidence that drinking coffee is healthy for you.
The report condenses two recent studies that indicate coffee helps stimulate brown fat cells, the cells that burn calories to keep you warm. In short, brown fat has plenty of iron for the purpose of generating heat. Burning brown fat cells faster changes a person’s metabolism, the studies conclude. That changes the cholesterol – the fat profile – in your blood. This does not necessarily mean burning this fat will lead to weight loss, the medical community notes. More research will be needed to determine that.
The two studies were conducted by teams at the University of Nottingham and the UCLA School of Medicine.
