KENYA
Government officials, looking for ideas on how to revive Kenya’s coffee industry, have created a group to coordinate a strategy.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has created a coffee sector implementation committee to ensure that reforms take place, according to the AllAfrica news website. The 15-person committee is chaired by Joseph Kiayah and includes the country’s principal secretaries for agriculture, treasury, trade, and co-operatives.
The committee is tasked with providing oversight of current efforts, leadership for the implementation of reforms, and proposing future changes with a focus on production, value addition and marketing.
