KENYA
Officials in Kenya want a larger share of coffee shipments to the US and plans are being made to make it happen.
Kenya is planning to double its coffee exports to the US, a population that drinks more coffee than anywhere else, Africanews reports.
“North America is a big market for specialty coffee and we expect the visibility Kenyan coffee gets will help grow our market share in the United States,” said Kiplimo Melli, head of Kenya’s Coffee Directorate.
Kenya exported more than 13 million pounds of coffee beans to the United States in 2015-16, nearly doubling the previous year’s total. Officials intend to double that amount again by the end of 2019.
