Uganda
Coffee exports from this African country are up 6% percent over last year, according to government reports. That brings the total export volume to 4.5 million bags or $492 million. About 15% of that production is in Arabica beans.
Coffee is one of Uganda’s leading export crops and government officials said in 2015 that they wanted to see 20 million bags shipped by the year 2020. Records provided by the Uganda Coffee Development Agency (UCDA) show about 3.4 million additional bags will need to move in the next fiscal year to reach the goal.
The UCDA estimates about 500,000 households rely on coffee production.
