IMA and Goglio, leading Italian multinationals in the packaging solutions sector entered a strategic partnership aimed at, “converging competences and know-how for the supply of a wide and very competitive range of processing and packaging solutions for the coffee industry,” as stated in a press release received from the two companies on May 3. IMA and Goglio stress there will also be a mutual focus on research and development of new generation packaging materials.
Both Goglio and IMA have well-known leadership internationally in the field of packaging, especially in the coffee sector. In recent years, the two companies frequently combined strengths to meet the requirements mutual coffee roasting customers.
The companies say that by integrating their respective skills, “[they] can offer the best technology worldwide for coffee packaging lines, from beans reception to end-of-line equipment matching all the most demanding process, packaging, and service requirements.
Importantly, the agreement announced yesterday does not envisage a merger between the companies or their respective divisions, either present or future. The companies stress this is a strategic-commercial partnership aimed at bringing together their respective competences in the coffee packaging sector.
“At the core of this partnership is the common quest for sustainability, a priority mission shared by IMA and Goglio and especially focused on the mutual need for research and development in sustainable materials that can be handled on their packaging solutions,” states the companies.
IMA stands out today with its dedicated COFFEE HUB, as a one-stop supplier delivering comprehensive technology from beans reception to end-of-line equipment matching all the most demanding process, packaging, and service requirements.
The Goglio Group designs, develops, and manufactures complete packaging systems, providing flexible materials for all packaging requirements.
“We need strong partnerships if we want to strengthen our presence on the market," the press release quotes both Klaus Peters, IMA food sector director, and Davide Jarach, strategic development officer at the Goglio Group as saying. "By joining our efforts, we are offering added value not only for customers but also for partners, and suppliers.”
"IMA is glad to offer OpenLab support, the group’s network of technological laboratories and testing area, to accelerate on this priority mission,” said Peters. “With IMA Open Lab we research, test, and develop alternative processes and materials together with our partners and suppliers encouraging sustainable, compostable or biodegradable packaging solutions.”
