Edgard Bressani has joined Brazil exporting company Capricornio Coffees as a partner to Luiz Roberto Saldanha Rodrigues and Jose Antonio Rezende da Silva.
Bressani, 47, formerly c.e.o. of the Octavio Café in Sao Paulo and O’Coffee – Brazilian Estates, is a Specialty Coffee Association of America Q-Grader and a former v.p. of the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association. Bressani previously ran the Cafés do Brasil Marketing Program conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture.
“Luiz, Jose, and I are very similar in beliefs, manners, family values. We share the same thoughts, have a strong human side and a passion for coffee and networking,” said Bressani. “Capricornio Coffees was created to reveal and promote amazing coffee estates located in an area that had been forgotten in the past years, although it used to have many farms as finalists at Cup of Excellence Competition. The region is becoming the new ‘hot’ area from which to source.”
Bressani will be directly involved with the commercialization of coffees from the partners’ estates.
“There are many amazing coffees to be presented and beautiful estates and ‘terroirs’ to be introduced to roasters. The company has been developing and signing partnerships with local farmers, aiming at building long-term relations, and paying them better prices. Partnerships have to be sustainable and always offer a win-win situation in order to last,” said Bressani.
