There's no need to quit espresso when on a road trip, hike, or picnic, thanks to a newly launched pod-based hand brewer. The Eastsign Manual Espresso Machine is a small, lightweight device that uses the direct extraction press method to pull a great shot using just hot water and a coffee capsule. No electricity needed.
The mini device stands just 8 inches high, 3 inches wide and weighs only 1.1 pound (500 grams). Just insert an NS or NS-compatible coffee pod into the adapter, then screw the adapter into the coffee holder base. Unscrew the water tank lid and pour in 50ml of hot water. Put the assembly on top of a coffee cup and gradually press the pump stick down until the water tank is empty. Enjoy your espresso straight up or add hot water for an Americano-style cup. It's that easy.
The kit includes a small cup for espresso and a full-size cup for Americano. There are also two kinds of adaptors for the K-Cup and the GC.
Eastsign is a Hong Kong-based company known for its range of innovative small devices that make brewing quality coffee easier and more accessible. The Eastsign Manual Espresso Machine will be on exhibit at this year's Specialty Coffee Expo in Portland, Oregon, April 21–23, and World of Coffee Athens, June 22–24. www.eastsignlife.com.
