In Pod We Trust 2.0 identified single-serve as the fastest growing coffee segment globally where it is closing the gap with roast and ground coffee around the world. “Pods are not limited to developed markets,” he told participants.
The segment accounts for roughly 39% of total US value.
Mintel International released a report estimating single-cup comprises 33.4% of volume in 2015 with 19.6% sales gain to earn $4.3 billion in the US. Coffee volume is actually decreasing as single-cup users consume significantly less coffee.
Mintel estimates 81% growth from 2015-20 with sales of $7.75 billion in 2020.
