Rajiv Lochan, of Lochan Tea Ltd., is developing products flavored with tea blossom concentrates and will soon launch a range of RTD drinks, tea blossom flavored foods and various skin care products such as moisturizers. In February 2013, the Chinese Ministry of Health licensed the use of tea flowers in the food industry, and blossoms harvested in Sichuan province are being processed in the Fujian food industry to make a concentrate.
Rajiv Lochan is working through his Hong Kong based company, Bontif Tea Blossom Technology Co. Ltd., and says, “This concentrate is being tried in China, Japan, Taiwan, and Malaysia for making RTD drinks and as a flavor additive in various foods such as biscuits and noodles, and to make mild tea flavored tobacco for cigarettes. Various skin care products are being tried and commercial production will start soon.”
