Experience Columbus, a destination marketing organization based in Columbus, Ohio, announced the creation of a Coffee Trail on National Coffee Day last September. This tourist’s tool aims to capitalize on two trends: the recent wave of craft coffee roasters and retailers taking root in the state’s capitol city and the tendency for visitors to use maps or tours to explore via culinary experiences.
The Columbus Coffee Trail currently includes eight businesses: Café Brioso owned by Jeff Davis who roasts the coffee served there; Impero Coffee Roasters, a family-run shop in the Short North arts and entertainment district; Mission Coffee Co., now expanding to its second location; Stauf’s Coffee Roasters, a craft coffee pioneer that opened in 1988; Cup o’ Joe, often selected as the city’s best coffee house by locals; One Line Coffee, run by a father and son team who trade directly with farmers; The Roosevelt Coffeehouse, which was not yet open at press time; and Boston Stoker, the Columbus location of a Dayton, Ohio area coffee house chain.
