Ethiopian coffee exports generated about $500 million dollars during the first eight months of that country’s fiscal year, government officials said.
More than 160,000 tons of coffee were exported during the period beginning in July 2019, according to an Ethiopian Coffee and Tea Authority statement. The numbers were reported by the Ethiopian Herald.
Much of that Arabica coffee was shipped to Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Japan. About 140 tons left the country as roasted and/or ground coffee, the authority said. The total export reflects a 37,000-ton increase ($25 million) over the same period the year before.
