Pepsi recently announced it is bringing a new cola/coffee beverage, Pepsi Cafè, to US store shelves in April 2020. The new soft drink will contain double the caffeine of its regular cola.
The soft drink giant, which already markets licensed coffee drinks from Starbucks, is following Coca-Cola and that company’s Coca-Cola Plus Coffee drink. Coke’s drink is going international after a successful test run in Japan, according to media reports.
Pepsi Cafè will be available in what the company terms original vanilla flavors and delivered in slim 12-ounce cans.
"We know that the consumers today are looking for products that meet the needs of energy, indulgence, and refreshment during that afternoon pick-me-up occasion. At Pepsi, we've known the potential of blending cola and coffee for years and after striking the perfect balance, we cannot wait to introduce Pepsi Café to the US next year," said Todd Kaplan, Pepsi’s v.p. of marketing.
