Tracy Ging, second vice president of Specialty Coffee Association Board of Directors communicated with members last month about why she remains in favor of the process to unify SCAA and the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe. You can read a version of the message on the SCAA Unification site.
STiR contacted SCAA to find out what more there is to know about when a member referendum may take place. Andrew Hetzel, a member of the SCAA board, replied via email. He wrote, “We don't have a voting date set yet. We're not avoiding the topic but didn't want to set member expectations incorrectly while this is still being determined. We should have more information about this resulting from the board meeting on June 5th that will occur immediately after the Strategic Leadership Summit meeting.”
Ging’s post does provide some idea of timeline. She wrote, “We’re finalizing legal due diligence, a proposed agreement and by-law amendments, which will be present to the membership for vote. From there, if members accept our proposal, we would enter the implementation phase with a proposed launch of January 2017.”
