Probat recently introduced the Colorette 4, a coffee roasting color measuring device that accurately monitors the degree of roast. The portable and “extremely precise control device” measures monochromatic reflected light and is thus unaffected by ambient light
“Its extended functionality, capacitive touch-screen allows quick and easy calibration making the device highly user-friendly,” according to the company.
Here is how it works: coffee is illuminated by a clock-pulsed white LED. Sensors capture the reflected light and the color value is displayed on the Colorette color scale or user-defined scale. Readouts can be viewed in multiple scales, if required. An Ethernet port enables connection to a local computer or the Probat pilot plant system. A USB interface enables users to save measurements to an external data storage device.
“The Colorette 4 delivers extremely precise and reproducible measuring results for safe and simple color identification of ground roasted coffee samples,” said Andreas Rinke, manager, portfolio management at Probat. “Its enhanced functionality and flexibility make the Colorette 4 an indispensable tool for monitoring coffee quality.” Learn more: www.
