La Natura, a Swiss producer of coffee and tea capsules, has acquired a 60% stake in Ultramar Caffè, a pod maker based in Fano, Italy. The Italian company had 20 million euros in revenue in 2022, up 40% year-on-year. It makes capsules from all materials including plastic, aluminum, and compostables.
Ultramar says the investment will support its plans to expand its international market footprint. The company has 70 employees, producing 200 million capsules a year, a figure it aims to increase to 500 million annually by 2024.
Utramar's owners, the Nava Montanari family, will keep a 40% stake.
La Natura's Gianni Remo will become CEO of Ultramar. The parent company is La Natura Lifestyle International Holding AG.
