The UAE will host its first National Cezve/Ibrik Championships at the Dubai World Trade Center in October.
The winner advances to the World Championships staged at Gulfood in February 2016.
The national contest at the Specialty Food Festival, Oct. 27-29 in Dubai will see the UAE’s best baristas prepare coffee using one of the oldest and most traditional brewing methods in the region where it was first created.
“We expect the competition will generate tremendous interest throughout the UAE and around the Arab world,” said David Veal, SCAE’s executive director. This championship will return the coffee-making focus to traditional methods of preparation in what is now one of the world’s fastest-growing coffee markets, he said.
