The Sri Lanka Tea Board (SLTB), Colombo Tea Traders’ Association and other members of the Ceylon tea industry are planning large-scale celebrations of 150 years of Ceylon Tea in 2017.
A number of tea related events will be held throughout the country from February to August 2017. These include a Ceylon Tea Expo, a tea convention, tea festivals, tea workshops, seminars and other related events and the industry will be inviting members of the international tea world, including Tea Associations, Tea Councils and Tea Boards, to take part in the celebrations.
The Ceylon Tea Expo will involve Ceylon tea producers and exporters, manufacturers and distributors of tea sector machinery and accessories, packaging and printing suppliers, and research and development industries in the tea sector. A tea festival and tea tours are also planned for international visitors.
The Sri Lanka Tea Board plans to issue a series of postage stamps to mark 150 years of the Ceylon tea industry.
