A soon-to-be-published report indicates coffee can help fight melanoma, a leading skin cancer.
The paper, to be published in the European Journal of Cancer Prevention, examines whether anti-inflammatory foods provide any protection against melanoma. The study concludes only coffee, especially caffeinated coffee, was consistently beneficial.
Researchers curated 18 cohort studies that examined anti-inflammatory foods and their abilities to provide protection against skin cancer. Those studies combined to include about 2.5 million participants and looked at fruits, vegetables, coffee, tea, and various vitamins.
Seven of those studies included coffee and six concluded coffee offered protection against melanoma.
