Manager Wins for Innovation
Operations manager Muskan Khanna
INDIA
Muskan Khanna, who manages The Studio tea factory, was named Woman Innovator of the Year for her Nilgiri Bamboo tea.
“It is because of the freedom to experiment as much as we want to at the studio, that I came up with the unique Nilgiri Bamboo tea (which is now patent pending),” Khanna told STiR. “From the very beginning when the decision was made that The Tea Studio would be an all-women run facility, be it me, my factory supervisor or the women who help us hand-sort the made teas, have never felt more at home,” she says.
“I am so thankful to all the partners at Tea Studio, for encouraging a woman to grow in a field that is predominately male-dominated – especially in India,” said Khanna.
“Indi Khanna (my father) who has guided and supported me since the day we started the factory, I would have never gotten here without him. And of course, a big shout out to all the women working alongside me at the studio, their energy is truly infectious!” she said.
I hope that the work I do and with the help of this award I will be able to encourage more women in positions of management in the tea industry and foster a greater recognition generally that women can achieve just as much as men, be it in the tea industry or anywhere else in life.”
The Indian Business Women Awards, sponsored by Morpheus Enterprises, were presented at ceremonies in Mumbai.
