UK
In March, Japanese tea growing and retailing company Obubu will return to the UK to host a series of tasting events in London and Oxford. In London, workshops and tastings will take place on March 4-5 at Tea and Glory, a new tea bar opened in February by Andrew Perryman in Camden; in Oxford, Ububu is partnering with James Thirlwall, founder of Elixir Living Tea.
Obubu Tea Farms produce high-quality artisan green teas in Wazuka, Kyoto, and their range includes sencha, genmaicha, hojicha, and matcha. The company donates to several local charities in Japan and to developing communities both in Japan and elsewhere. And each year, members of the team travel abroad on educational tours that aim to inspire more interest in Japanese teas around the world.
Their first such tour took place in 2006 and they have since visited eight countries, including the UK. The 2017 tour will include events in other European countries before the scheduled visit to the UK.
